In my quest to find London’s best rodízio restaurant, I met up with fellow Brazilian food blogger Rosana McPhee of Hot & Chilli and headed to the Victoria branch of Rodízio Preto. For those not familiar with the rodizio style of Brazilian restaurant, there is more information in my earlier post on Rodízio Rico which you can read here. As explained, rodízio derives from the word “to rotate” and the term is most commonly applied to restaurants serving barbecued meats (also known as Churrascarias). Continue Reading

One of my latest “discoveries” was Sabor, a South American restaurant on Essex Road that is only a few minutes walk from home in Islington! I have walked past Sabor countless times, but only recently did Dr G and I go in to try its Nuevo Latino cuisine. Continue Reading

I love finding good food in the most unexpected places. I visited Bar Kick a couple of years ago for a few drinks and a bit of table football, but somehow managed to completely miss their food menu. I would have never thought of going there for a meal, until now. Continue Reading

When I was growing up in Brazil, going to a rodízio restaurant was one of those Sunday rituals that brought the entire family together. Every Brazilian family will have their favourite rodízio, the one they go to regularly and swear by to be the best one in town. Continue Reading

Twenty-three Years of Spanish Food and Wine in London’s Southbank
Meson Don Felipe, opened in 1987 on The Cut near Waterloo Station, was one of the first restaurants I visited in London nearly twenty years ago, and is one of the few I keep returning to after all these years. Continue Reading

Beyond Havana
After a few days in chaotic Havana (read here – Part I – Havana), we collected our rental car and headed into the interior. We planned to drive West to the town of Viñales, within the Viñales valley before heading to the 16th century town of Trinidad, and the beaches of Cayo Santa Maria and Varadero. Continue Reading

Raízes (“roots” in Portuguese) is a Brazilian restaurant and petiscos (tapas) bar in London’s East End. Situated at the less trendy end of Hackney Road but a stone’s throw from Viajante in Bethnal Green, this lively Brazilian venue attracts a loyal crowd of ex-pats for its honest, homemade-style Brazilian dishes and well priced caipirinhas. Every now and again, I come across a gem of place which makes me wonder where on earth I have been in the last year or so. Empório São Paulo has been open since 2009 in New King’s Road, Parson’s Green, but I only recently happened to find it. Continue Reading
