Lucha Future is Coming!

Today is Cinco de Mayo (5th May) so we figured it would be the perfect day to feature Lucha Future, the new Lucha Libre mexican wrestling event hitting the UK this summer. This is what wrestling is all about, forget all that nandy-pandy stuff with The Undertaker and Triple H – this is proper!

Lucha Future is the brand new show from the people behind 2008’s Lucha Libre London and brings back many of the luchadores (“fighters”) from that show. This is an event all about heroes and villains, mischief and skill, and features a highly-athletic, distinctly Mexican take on wrestling, or free wrestling (“Lucha Libre”) as it’s own. If this show is anyway near as good as the one in 2008 this will be one superb night of entertainment.

Lucha Future will be coming to the Roundhouse in London on Friday 24th June until Sunday 26th June, Gateshead on Tuesday 28th June as part of the VAMOS Festival and the Brighton Dome on Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd July. See details at the bottom for full details.

As part of the Cinco de Mayo celebrations, which are huge in Mexico, the event organisers have decided to announce six more of the fighters taking part in the event. Joining Blue Demon Jr (leader of the evil rudos), the cross-dressing Cassandro and acrobatic Magno will be Naruto, Hanaoka, Turbo (aka Golden Boy), Hantar, Arez and Skayde (aka Porsche, Power Raider Blanco, Boomerang). Plus, there are six more fighters still to be announced!

The Top Gear Challenge
After Clarkson, Hammond and May’s stupefying comments about Mexicans caused such an uproar on the TV, Lucha Future decided to set them a challenge and show them what Mexico is all about. The legendary Queen of the Ring, Cassandro, has challenged the Top Gear presenters to a bout in the ring at London’s Roundhouse: “If they want to know what Mexico is really like, I’ll let them know in 5 minutes and it will take only one Mexican against the three of them using only junior moves”.

It is still unconfirmed whether they will be accepting the challenge.

Live Mexican Electronica
The final piece in the Mexican puzzle will be the aural ability of Tijuana’s Bostich & Fussible (Nortec Collective) and their mix of electronica, techno and Norteño. Their latest album Nortec Collective Presents: Bostich + Fussible – Bulevar 2000 will be released in the UK on June 6.
