Favela on Blast film screening and party in support of ABC Trust

Club Popozuda kicks off 2011 in a generous mood with a film about baile funk for you to watch and more bootyshaking beats for you to dance to – all for a good cause! The evening will be a celebration and education of baile funk, as you’d expect from the biggest and best baile funk night in London. You know the deal by now; baile funk from Brazil, kuduro from Angola, kwaito from South Africa, dancehall from Jamaica, Baltimore bass from the US of A and more bootyshaking beats from around the world thrown in.

This month The Bumps will be joined by London-based duo Amy Grante who have been gaining a lot of attention for their unique productions, remixes and mashups of every kind of bass music. Expect to hear a lot about these guys in the future and don’t miss this opportunity to catch their first London performance.

Club Popozuda is proud to present an official screening of the hit documentary Favela on Blast, produced and directed by Leandro HBL and globetrotting Grammy-nominated DJ and producer Diplo (also head of the Mad Decent label and one half of the band Major Lazer).

Favela on Blast documents the vibrant and innovative baile funk subculture that has emerged from the impoverished favelas of Rio de Janeiro, one of the most beautiful but also most dangerous places on Earth. Follow the DJs and MCs of the scene, including Deize Tigrona, Mr Catra, DJ Marlboro and others through the narrow streets and into the heaving crowds of the funk parties as they tell their own stories about what the music means to them and the social conditions that inspire it.

  1. 5. Yeah! I agree with you. Help a cause is really a great thing. And now a day, internet has developed so much that it helped to donate money to a cause, which is worthy enough to spend money. I am very glad about it. And people should do it more often. Charity, Good causes
