Pop up art in Clerkenwell
Down on Clerkenwell there’s a beautiful space filled with a mix of delicate artwork from three fascinating artists; the exhibition entitled ‘Magic beans’, which refers to their Anglo-Brazilian roots.
The artists are Nina Miranda, best known for her stunning vocals with Smoke City and Zeep, who proves she’s a lady of many talents with the vinyl art work she creates; Julia Miranda (Nina’s sister) a leading artist on the London scene, who contributes abstract, emotive, thoughtful canvases and compositions to the show; and finally Kiki Machado, whose striking collages contrast the tropical colours of her Brazilian routes with the grey tones of her London hometown. There’s a particular awareness to recycling evident in work, made from found and donated materials; the result is concise, delicate and beautiful.
Throughout the duration of the exhibition the artists will also be working in situ, taking it in turns to use the space as a studio so that the public can come in and commission work to be created there.
The common theme in this bright, light, open pop-up gallery space is that all the work is accessible and beautiful, with a certain humility and honesty about it. Hurry down!
