Marisa Monte plays a rare show in London this Sunday

The last time the UK audience (and the whole wide world) set their eyes on Marisa Monte was during one of the most important events during the London 2012 Olympic Games, although most of the people watching had no idead it was her.

Jungle offered a pair of tickets as part of an online competition. We are pleased to say that the winner who will enjoy the show is Theresa Owen Mathias. Congratulations!

It was the Olympic handover from London Marisa was the star of the Brazilian part. Dressed as Yemanja, the African orisha of the oceans, she sang Villa-Lobos right before another Brazilian star Seu Jorge, took to the stage.

The BBC who broadcasted the London 2012 Games closing ceremony did not bother explaining who she was (or what she was singing) to the viewers, so no one apart from her Brazilian fans knew they where watching one of Brazil’s biggest artists, with ten million+ album sales to date.

In April the dica will be back to London for a rare live show at the Hammersmith Apolo touring the songs from her latest album “O que você quer saber da verdade” (What do you want to know about the truth) which includes the hit single “Ainda Bem”. The promotional video features the Brazilian UFC star Anderson Silva and has been watched by more than 10 million viewers since it was posted on YouTube.

Marisa Monte is an amazing singer. So talented and charismatic. Brazil was extremely well represented by Marisa Monte, Seu Jorge and BNegão in the London 2012 Games closing ceremony.
Keep on the good work JungleDrums :p
