Miss Balanço’s bossanova swing

Clara Moreno is on tour promoting her new album, Miss Balanço. The style in hand is noneother than pure samba-swing. Despite her bossanova roots (as daughter of composer Nelson Angelo Moreno and renowned singer Joyce), in this her fourth album the singer introduces us to her new-found passion for funky samba grooves, and she’s already assuring that her next album will follow the same lines.

Those who attended the ‘50 years of bossa nova’ celebrations at the Barbican back in 2008 had the chance to hear her husky mid-range voice, with wonderful rhythm and swing. Back then, she showed the audience how she’s grown up in a world and family of music and learnt not just about music itself, but also a fair bit about how to work the stage. And for the bargain of just £5, her show is surely one of the finest offers of the month.
