Mexican Institute of Sound, Axel Krygier and Pollito Boogaloo @ KOKO
One of the most exciting line-ups of La Linea 2011 is the evening dubbed A Night of Twisted Cumbia at Koko on Sunday 17th April, featuring Mexican Institute of Sound, Axel Krygier, Pollito Boogaloo and DJ Russ Jones (Arriba la Cumbia).
Mexico’s electronica scene is going through something of an indian summer with a constant stream of new and interesting artists. One of the most prominent is Mexican Institute of Sound, a DJ project combining cumbia with Mexican folk music and other modern forms, who will be making their UK debut. Axel Krygier and Pollito Boogaloo will be ably assisting. Krygier, whose Pesebre album was one of the highlights of 2010, restlessly combines genres including cumbia, tango, electronica and folk music from his Argentine homeland. Pollito Boogaloo play Afro-Colombian roots music including vallenato, early cumbia and puya.
