Milton Nascimento plays intimate gigs at legendary venue
Five years after his last visit to London, the legendary Milton Nascimento is back in town for four shows over two nights at the no less legendary Ronnie Scott’s. The 70-year old Brazilian singer is celebrating the 50th anniversary of his career, which has already resulted in nationwide domestic tour and an upcoming DVD. Therefore, one can expect a whole batch of hits from several stages of Milton’s career, from the experimental days of ”Clube da Esquina” – the innovative 70s movement from Belo Horizonte – to his own take on international hits such Michael Jackson’s ”Beat It”.
With 28 albums to his name and having appeared alongside institutions of world music such as Quincy Jones, Paul Simon, Herbie Hancock and Peter Gabriel, Milton is famous for his voice, which flirts with jazz, spirituals and baroque in the same songs. His shows will have the Ronnie Scott’s All-Star as special guests. It’s an occasion not to be missed if you’re a fan of Brazilian Popular Music.
