La Linea 2012 Line-up
|
The line-up for La Linea 2012, the latest edition of London’s premier Latin music festival, has been announced. Happening between the 16th and 27th April, with an accompanying UK tour that sees the festival this year converge on five cities, there is surely something for everyone with artists coming from Brazil, Cuba, Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Spain and Portugal, as well as a fine array of London’s top Latin talent. Obviously the first event to catch Jungle’s eye was the Brazilian Triple Bill on April 19th featuring Céu, Curumin and Lucas Santtana. Normally a show by either one of these artists would get us dribbling. The possibility of seeing all three in one evening might just send us over the edge! Stayong on the South American vibe there will also be a fantastic evening on the 27th with live music from Argentine/Colombian group Che Sudaka and London’s finest pyschedelic cumbiamberos Los Chinches and a strong line-up of DJs to keep the party going on long into the night. Representing Cuba will be Juan De Marcos’ Afro Cuban All Stars as well as the London Lucumi Choir. The latter are a collective of around 25 members (they lose count!) with a repertoire embracing Cuba’s Orisha traditions. Their live show is something of a visual and aural spectacular, and is one of the reasons why they have gone strenth from strength since they formed six years ago. Juan de Marcos Gonzalez (aka “The Quincy Jones of Havana”) will be making his first London appearance for seven years, and will be performing a show with his Afro-Cuban All Stars that celebrates the past, present and future of Cuban music. One of the most interesting events on the line-up will be a performance from Mexican guitarist Morgan Szymanski on Thursday 26th April. He will be launching his latest project, Sketches of Mexico, a collaboration that combines Mexican music and the work of twenty visual artists from UK, Mexico, Portugal and China. In addition there will be Colombian Roberto Pla and his Latin Ensemble, Portugal’s Madredeus and Spain’s Amaral, for what should be an incredible two weeks of live Latin music in London. _____________________ Monday 16th April Thursday 19th April Saturday 21st April Tuesday 24th April Wednesday 25th April Thursday 26th April Friday 27th April Friday 27th April Ceu + Curumin will additionally be playing the following shows across the UK: More information at comono.co.uk/la-linea |
