Fuerza London Latin Music Festival
Over May and June Fuerza London will be bringing a wide variety of Latin Music to London, including legendary performers such as Hombres G, Fito Paez and Susana Baca, and relative newcomers Bacalao Men, Andres Cepeda and Natalia Lafourcade.
Fuerza London begins on Saturday 7th May with a weekend of Spanish and Argentine Rock from Hombres G and Bersuit respectively. Hombres G are regarded as one of Spain’s greatest rock bands and have been together for three decades, so must be doing something right. Bersuit are a constantly-inventive band from Argentina. Over the years they have recorded rock, pop, reggae and experimental albums. They recently split up, but have thankfully it didn’t last!
On Friday 20th May Susana Baca will be playing at the Jazz Cafe. She is one of our favourite singers and undoubtedly our favourite Afro-Peruvian chanteuse. We are big fans of her recent Afrodiaspora album, and always look forward to seeing her live. The day after, Spain’s Manolo Escobar will be at Union Chapel. Escobar is renowned for his version of “Que Vive Espana” and is a huge star in Spain.
Fito Paez is a one-man music-making machine. His career, based in Argentina and Spain, has seen him record a number of great rock albums. He will be appearing at The Clapham Grand on Wednesday 25th May. Andres Cepeda, from Colombia, will be playing his debut UK show just two days later on Friday 27th May.
There will be four more concerts from Fuerza London in June. A huge highlight will be the show from two of Spain’s great gypsy/flamenco bands Los Delinquentes and Tomasito. This one is going to be one hell of a party. It’s very possible that Venezuela’s Bacalao Men will be just as vibrant on Thursday 23rd June though we haven’t had the chance to see them live just yet. The other two concerts are the legendary Mexican rockers Molotov on Thursday 15th June and Los Pericos from Argentina on Thursday 30th June. Basically, you should make sure you have Fridays off work throughout June so that you can really let loose for some great Latin Thursdays!
