Listen now to “Hangover” CSS brand-new single
CSS new song has just been released and it is now on repeat at Jungle‘s stereo. And we are quite surprised – and in a good way.
Critics and fans were worried the band had lost its creativity brains because of the lacrimonious fight between the girls and producer and multi-instrumentalist Adriano Cintra, the only man in the band (now part of duo Madrid with former Bonde do Rolê, Marina Vello). But new single “Hangover”, from the forthcoming album “Planta”, gives the impression that the four girls have found their new and own sound.
After the disappointing 2011 album, La Liberacion, Lovefoxx and her three São Paulo friends took some time off and moved to the United States where they joined forces with producer Dave Sitek, part of the New York band TV on the Radio.
“This album was written and recorded in LA. We had a lot of fun doing it, we met some incredible people on this process. We felt very free with song structures and melodies. Working with them in an intuitive, more melodic way. Treating each song as it’s own thing”, says Lovefoxx.
Due to be released in June, Plant has 11 songs such as “Too Hot”, “Dynamite” and “Faith in Love”, titles that are pretty familiar to the CSS world and Lovefoxx lyrics. In Hangover she sings “Never had a hangover till you/Never had my heart broken till you/I’ll walk through the gates of hell as long as I am with you” to a blistering funk beat, dub horns, repeated synths and a fuzzy guitar sound.
The band will be back to the UK for a small tour playing at Minehead, part of the All Tomorrow’s Parties festival (May 12th), London’s Hoxton Bar & Kitchen (May 13th/Sold out) and Liverpool’s East Village Arts Club (May 14th).
